PAID LEAVE. CHILDCARE. LIVING WAGES.

Vote Like A Dad

The #VoteLikeADad campaign aims to get men to exercise their democratic right to vote while centering care as a major policy priority.

About the campaign

Care is central to men’s lives. We want to mobilize men to vote with this in mind.

We believe dads should step into the ballot box with both their hearts and wallets at the forefront to support family-friendly policies like paid leave, accessible childcare, living wages, and other measures that support the well-being of their families.

Key Statistics

85%

of fathers with children under 18 say being a parent is the most or one of the most important aspects of who they are as a person, according to Pew Research.

43%

The United States received a failing score of 43 percent on the Oxfam US Care Policy Scorecard. This finding means the US meets less than half of all possible criteria and that federal care policies are extremely lacking.

2.5 million

households in the US are headed by a single father, and over 4 million men are sandwich generation caregivers, meaning they are providing care to a child and an adult simultaneously.

Core campaign values and policy priorities

Nearly all men will have the chance to be involved in the life of a child or to care for another person – their parents, children, partner, neighbors, and communities. Eighty-seven percent of male caregivers say ensuring access to paid time off to care for themselves or a loved one is a policy priority.

The vast majority of Democrats, Republicans, and Independents in the United States say investing in childcare is a policy priority.

Eighty-three percent of male caregivers, across the political spectrum, say increasing the national minimum wage is a policy priority.
