This year, Equimundo turned 20. Equimundo’s work started in low-income communities in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with the belief that men and boys should be allies with women and girls in achieving gender justice, and that many were ready to join this cause. Since the first community-based projects in Brazil, Equimundo has launched a global consortium and has worked with partners in more than 45 countries.
The struggle for social and gender justice that has driven Equimundo since we started is far from over. For that reason, our mission is as critical today as it was 20 years ago: to promote gender equality and create a world free from violence by engaging men and boys in partnership with women and girls. The meaning of our name “Equimundo” – or “for the world” – is as relevant as ever. We continue to be motivated by the notion that gender justice is a good for the world.
Equimundo’s 2017 Annual Report outlines key actions and accomplishments in research, programming, advocacy and more.
