From September 8 to 11, more than 2,000 participants and advocates will come together at the 2016 AWID Forum in Brazil to strategize on building collective power for women’s rights, gender justice, and feminist futures. Feminist, environmental, economic justice, and human rights groups – among many others – will collectively analyze past challenges and future opportunities for solidarity.
Gary Barker, President and CEO of Equimundo, will present on “Strategies for Building a Movement of Men to End Violence Against Women” at the forum, along with Mallika Dutt, President and CEO of Breakthrough. This panel will explore effective strategies to transform gender norms and engage men as allies and partners in the movement to end all forms of violence against women.
In advance of the 2016 AWID Forum, Equimundo is partnering with Breakthrough and MenEngage to generate a global conversation on men’s role in imagining feminist futures and building a world in which gender-based violence is unacceptable. In a three-part Twitter chat series, Equimundo is co-hosting weekly Twitter sessions using the hashtag #Men4FeministFutures:
