Equimundo, Vital Voices Global Partnership, and New America are hosting a panel event on “Men and the #MeToo Movement: How Can We Move From Silence to Solidarity?” on February 9, 2018 in Washington, DC.
As the #MeToo movement builds momentum, we’re seeing examples of men held accountable for discrimination and abuse every day. The “Silence Breakers” who spoke out against sexual assault and harassment were honored as TIME Magazine’s Person of the Year. As numerous voices have called out sexism and made it increasingly public, we’ve seen a revolution in the response to misogyny and new women-led movements – like TIME’S UP – coming forward to join existing ones with a unified call for change from women in entertainment for women everywhere.
If we want to see full equality, and to create workplaces, relationships, universities, and societies where women are safe, equal, and positioned to lead, we need men everywhere to follow and to join these women-led movements and to step up and step out as allies, advocates, and as models in their public and private lives. The time is now.
Join Equimundo, Vital Voices Global Partnership, and New America for a dialogue on what we know about men who harass and assault, how we can work together to change the pattern, and ways to take meaningful action now, and for future generations.
