We are excited to share that on May 28, 2024, Melinda French Gates named Gary Barker, President and CEO of Equimundo, one of a select group of global leaders to distribute a $20 million fund to charitable organizations that he considers to be doing urgent, impactful, and innovative work to improve women’s health and well-being in the United States and around the world.

Alongside global leaders such as Jacinda Ardern, the former prime minister of New Zealand, and Ava DuVernay, an award-winning filmmaker who aims to advance social justice, Gary will have the opportunity to identify and provide funds to organizations who are advancing gender equality worldwide.

“I’m honored and humbled to be able to partner with Melinda and the Pivotal team in this way. My organization, Equimundo, is devoted to engaging men and boys in partnership with women’s rights organizations in the US around the world to achieve equality and promote healthy manhood for all of us. This vote of confidence from Pivotal will allow us to continue to push ahead the promise of this work in bigger, more impactful ways.”

Twelve global leaders were selected to distribute their own $20 million grant to advance gender equality and women’s rights.
