This International Women’s Day, Equimundo is leading and participating in online conversations and campaigns to advance gender justice and women’s empowerment. In particular, the organization is addressing issues of unpaid care work, the Global Gag Rule, and strategies for thoughtfully engaging men and boys in gender equality and violence prevention.

Unpaid Care Workers and the Day Without A Woman

Equimundo participated in a #TrumpGlobalGag Twitter chat, hosted by PAI, protesting President Trump’s Global Gag Rule. The Global Gag Rule is a harmful policy that forces providers to choose between receiving U.S. funding for family planning and providing comprehensive sexual and reproductive healthcare. Under the rule, providers cannot use U.S. funding or their own money to offer legal abortion services, information, or referrals – putting women’s health, autonomy, and lives in serious danger.

Raising Boys to be Men Who Care

Equimundo and Rutgers are launching a new film, “Raising Boys to be Men Who Care,” in the lead up International Women’s Day 2017. The two-minute animation highlights the MenCare+ program to engage men as partners in maternal, newborn, and child health, and in sexual and reproductive health and rights.

Resist Trump: Stop the Gag
Campaign and Protest

Equimundo is a co-sponsor of the “Resist Trump, Stop the Gag” protest, led by CHANGE, on International Women’s Day. The march will protest President Trump’s Global Gag Rule, which threatens access to safe abortion services and other basic healthcare for millions of people around the world. The protest will begin at 11:30am EST on March 8 at Freedom Plaza in Washington, DC with a march to the White House, where there will be a formal protest in Lafayette Park starting at noon.
