At Equimundo, we believe that creating workplaces grounded in equality, human rights, and respectful relationships requires the active participation of both men and women. While many efforts to advance gender equality focus on supporting womenโ€”rightfully soโ€”engaging men as allies is essential for fostering sustainable and holistic solutions. This benefits not only gender equality but also the well-being of men themselves.

From both human rights and business perspectives, it is crucial for industry leadersโ€”particularly men in positions of powerโ€”to visibly and accountably commit to advancing gender-equitable and inclusive workplaces. Research consistently demonstrates that inclusive workplaces lead to higher employee satisfaction, greater productivity, and sustainable growth. Data-informed, comprehensive workplace strategies not only resonate with boards, investors, and customers, but they also amplify an organizationโ€™s impact. Creating equal, respectful workplaces is not just the right thing to doโ€”itโ€™s the smart thing to do. With increasing global demand for inclusive environments, forward-thinking employers in both the public and private sectors are seizing the opportunity to innovate and gain a competitive edge.

We help employers embed male allyship into workplace policies and practices, recognizing that effective programs are long-term, structural, and offer clear guidance on how men can act as allies in advancing gender equality. Male allyship is not just about awarenessโ€”itโ€™s about actionable, sustained change.

To this end, Equimundo engages public and private sector entities to foster male allyship in the workplace. Here are three examples of what we’ve done.

  1. As a past partner on the USAID Engendering Industries program, Equimundo developed a training manual for engaging men in allyship for gender equality in the workplace and supported utility companies around the world in integrating male engagement into their gender equality strategies.ย
  2. Equimundo has also partnered with the UN Global Compact to develop an free open source online course and action guide for companies to design and implement male allyship initiatives. This course features expert insights on the role of male allyship in advancing workplace gender equality. Through real-world examples and interactive learning, participants will explore the gender leadership gap and the structural barriers that sustain it. Practical strategies will help learners take meaningful action to foster inclusion and drive equitable change. Designed for professionals at all levels, this course equips participants with the tools to become effective allies in their organizations.ย
  3. Equimundo collaborated with HeForShe to co-create theย Barbershop Toolkit, a resource designed to spark meaningful conversations among men and boys about gender equality in everyday spaces, including workplaces. Over the years, weโ€™ve implemented this toolkitโ€”and similar workshopsโ€”in a variety of settings, including multinational companies, nonprofits, and international organizations, to engage men as allies and shift workplace cultures toward greater equity.

Looking for our support?ย

At Equimundo, we tailor our services to help companies create programs that encourage men to actively support a respectful and inclusive workplace. Through our comprehensive suite of programs and resources, we equip male employees and leaders with practical tools to recognize and challenge biases, support the growth of female colleagues, and promote a more balanced approach to leadership.

By addressing the challenges of aggressive work culturesโ€”often a source of stress and burnout for men as wellโ€”we help create an environment where all employees can be authentic and perform at their best. Our services include interactive workshops, leadership coaching, and workplace culture and policy assessments, all designed to build a supportive, productive, and inclusive atmosphere.
